Inspiration to follow a dream of taking a two year gap to travel the world! WHEN and HOW I decided to leave my big corporate career, WHAT helped me, and WHAT I did step by step! Overcoming fear, divorce, and making big decisions all during cruising the oceans, to the world of the rich and famous on private yachts, and the return to the "land of living" My intention is to be an inspiration and give you the encouragement to take action towards your dreams.

Moving into action by losing a year
Well it all started with a conversion about me telling Lee what I had been up to in terms of my research into the Yacht industry. Somehow on my last contract at sea due to having my 33rd birthday on board I was walking around thinking I was 32 and therefore going to do another contract on cruise ships. As you get closer to 35 you are not looked at to favorably for the yacht industry so I thought I better get a move on and Lee also started asking me some interesting questions. I then decided to move the plan forward to dive into the final stages of getting onto a yacht. So the U.S visa has been applied for, CV is done, research, budget, accommodation and study options are all sorted. What do I find in the loft as I am getting my last minute papers in order.......Spanish for your trip which I bought years ago - by no coincident!

Never give up!
I wrote this after arriving back home from my 1st interview with Big Picture for P & O Cruises!
For those of you who don't know it has been a dream of mine to work on a cruise ship!! Since Oct 2007 when I did my course in International Hotel Operations I have been applying, studying and learning about this fantastic industry and spent a FORTUNE of postage with hand delivered CV's.
After almost giving up, being rejected many many times - it finally happened the "perfect job" and I have made the second interview which will be next week and I know I have the job - you know when you know!
The position is for a Digital Living Presenter on board P & O, 4 month contract sailing the med in summer based in South Hampton and based in BARBADOS in winter doing the Caribbean!!
My job on board will be selling workshops to passengers all about IT - digital imaging and then also selling with NO COMPETITION laptops, camera, mp3, software, satnav's etc. My status with be 2 stripe OFFICER with my OWN DOUBLE BED cabin. I will be working for Big Picture the media recruitment agent - they said it is your business as long as you hits the revenue targets you are welcome to come to us with ideas, even put your own workshops together etc they are very open to suggestions etc as my job is to MAKE THEM MONEY like any business.........
SO I can see myself presenting my own workshops on POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE, wellbeing etc making sure they spend more money in the spa and the spa will pay me a commission for all the people that book treatments from my workshops using a special promo code, I will start a "well-being" newsletter onboard via the marketing dept as I will be working with a team of 9 (printing, advertising, retail, marketing, photographer etc) I can see myself become the "cruise line well-being presenter" just going from ship to ship doing what I love and making money and seeing the world!! No doubt I will be sticking my noise into the cooking classes and boosting that too with the HEALTHY alternative. In the mean time I have my interview next Wednesday at 2pm.......just to confirm they are happy with my teaching/presenting style object handling etc....my contract starts the 1 May 2009.........yes I know you must be thinking HOW as my current employer DOES NOT KNOW ANTHING SO as the secret says ASK ~ BELIEVE ~ RECEIVE!!
So what are YOU going to ASK for TODAY??

The day I took action!
There are days when one feels like you have reached a cross road. Left, right, back, forward and the thoughts and feelings that follows. A short version would be indecision, ever been there, can you relate?
Having a positive outlook on life, forward, would normally be the direction I choose, however we are tempted to go left sometimes right and draw from the back (the past). Well the great thing about today is that I have always thought about writing, I am taking action.
All these thoughts have been in my head for way to long, and have been guided to do this. Now this may sound off the wall but as we go chapter by chapter it will all start to make sense. I am "tuned in", now some of you may be thinking what does "tuned in" mean, well my expression is based on experience. When you really get to discover who you are, and get to know yourself really well. To such a degree that you can watch yourself from a distance and almost predict what will be the next move.
I am 31 the prime of my life, or so I think. After all there is no time like the present. I am finding it awfully challenging to move myself from my comfort zone into what I know will be the most exciting journey of my life. I am currently "stuck" in a career and feel some days like I wake up on the same day every day. Does anyone out there feel like this?
So here is the plan, I am going to land the most awesome exciting job as an offshore excursions manager on a cruise linear doing the Caribbean islands. My instinct has always led me to believe this. So I have put my intention into the universe and will keep you posted.
